2/5/24 Council Meeting

-Good news that 39 wells around the Ware Rd landfill have been tested with no PFAS detected!

-Excited that Housing Next (a GR non-profit) might be able to help bring new housing options to Lowell (read my Promise 15). Housing Next is presenting to Planning and the DDA the week of Feb 12. Hopefully grants/incentives along with zoning changes will help the Lowell housing availability.

-After learning the police car purchase plan (every 8 years), voted yes for a car purchase next fiscal. Mike Burns explained to me that 100K miles on a police car is much harder than typical vehicles. The retiring car has 95K.

-The $700K “loss” noted in the water/sewer annual audit isn’t really a cash loss, it is due to 1)depreciation of equipment 2)required contributions to the pension and retiree health care funds and 3)lime pond cleaning of $294K (every 5 years). Reach out to me if you would like to discuss more.
