1)Traffic island on Monroe approved: very much needed on short section of North Monroe between City Hall and North Country Trail office. Area often has accidents and pedestrian issues (I walk there daily). Low shrubs to be planted in the island. What type of additional parking should be added is TBD. Paid for by DDA funds.
2)Annual audit: Total Net position (assets over liabilities) of $25.5M.
Amount was $27.7M in 2022. Decrease mainly due to underfunded pension benefit
plans.
LLP increased
-water and wastewater decreased due to depreciation, higher expenses and the Gee Drive pump station upgrade
-airport was about break even
-pension liability fund had a loss in investment income (first since 2018).
3)Ware Road: Recent testing of 8 locations show PFAS below state allowable limits. Meeting Tuesday night with Michigan EGLE 6pm at City Hall.
4)HydroCorp water backflow inspections: Approved a 2 year agreement for state mandated supply line checks. Minimum of 462 inspections at approximately $112 each. I asked that residents/businesses not receive shut-off notices if they have scheduled an inspection. Cost about $52K.
-Michigan’s EGLE PFAS team will hold a meeting about the Ware Road contamination site at 6pm on Jan. 23, 2024 at City Hall. Lowell has a very good PFAS info page here https://www.lowellmi.gov/how_do_i/get_information_about/ware_rd_landfill.php
